The Mobile Housing Authority (MHA) formerly known as the Mobile Housing Board, was established in 1937 to provide federally funded public housing programs and related services to Mobile’s low-income residents. MHA is the second largest public housing authority in Alabama with more than 85 employees. Currently, MHA owns and manages 2,665 public housing units in 11 developments. MHA serves 5,276 households through public housing and the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
