MHA 2024 Accomplishments

It’s a great day at the Mobile Housing Authority! I speak on behalf of MHA’s Board of Commissioners and staff…

A drainage clean-up was held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Gulf Village Homes.

The event was led by Osprey Initiative who was joined by Mobile Bay National Estuary Program, Student Conservation Association, and SCS Engineers, along with MHA staff.

This clean-up was done as a precursor to conducting flood mitigation activities at Gulf Village as part of the implementation of the Western Delta Watershed Management Plan.

The goal: Reduce chronic flooding throughout the development and improve water quality downstream to Chickasaw Creek and Mobile River.

Osprey Initiative, Cassie Eldredge-Hill
"We are here with the Mobile Bay National Estuary Program working in Gulf Village in Prichard, AL to help remove old litter and debris from the drainages around the community. Osprey Initiative is proud to partner on this project to remove the debris and help the project to mitigate flooding within the community!”

SCS Engineers, Christopher King
“I think it’s great- it may seem like we did a whole lot but there is still a lot to do. Every little bit helps and we’re happy to be out here for Earth Day.” “We’re glad to be a part of the solution to the ongoing problem of litter and trash in our waterways.”

Gulfcorps-SCA
“Hey, we’re the Student Conservation Association with Gulfcorps and we’re out here with our partners doing an Earth Day cleanup. We are happy to be out here and help!”

Michael E. Pierce, MHA CEO
“Special thanks to Commissioner Swann and her team at MBNEP for pulling the clean-up together in coordination with our partners from the Mobile County Commission, Osprey Initiative, SCS Engineers, and Gulfcorps-SCA. Additionally, thanks to MHA team members Casey Dickinson, Marie Mhoon and Tiffany Cromwell for their contributions to the successful effort.”
